Donna Rice Hughes Wins Women In Technology (WIT) "Social Impact Leadership" Award

Donna Rice Hughes, CEO and President of Enough is Enough (EIE), received the "Social Impact IT Award" from Women in Technology April 18, 2013 at the Leadership Awards Banquet at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, VA.

Presented by Maureen Bunyan, Washington DC Channel 7 News Anchor, the award cited Donna for her internationally recognized work as an Internet Safety Expert, author, and speaker. When accepting the prestigious award, Donna acknowledged the women leaders on whose "shoulders she stands" who formed EIE in 1992 to address the sexual exploitation of children, women and men caused by pornography.  By 1995, Donna and the EIE team pioneered the national effort to make the Internet safe for children and families and continue to this day as a leading force to protect children in the digital age.

Under her leadership, EIE created the only comprehensive multi-media adult Internet Safety 101® program created to prevent Internet-initiated crimes against children through educating, equipping and empowering parents, educators and caring adults with the knowledge and resources needed to protect children from online pornography, sexual predators and cyberbullies. It also addresses cyber security risks and dangers related to social networking, online gaming and mobile devices. Donna is the executive producer and host of the Telly award winning 101 DVD teaching series which recently aired on PBS.

WIT President Nancy Lamberton said of Donna and the other award winners, "These women are not only leaders for their innovation, vision and successful business results, but also serve as role models and mentors to the next generation of professionals."

President and CEO of the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Ernie Allen, has said about Donna's work, "Kids...don't recognize the risks. Donna Rice Hughes plays a critical role in educating parents to be involved."

An activist and recognized internet safety educator, Donna was commended by Oprah as "one of the leaders in the fight against pornography aimed at children on the Internet."
