Columbia, SC (WLTX) - If you have a teen, chances are they've already downloaded social apps like facebook, Skype, four square on their cell phone. But along with these new technologies come new dangers that you may not know about.
It's no secret, predators are always finding new ways to target kids. One in seven kids has received a sexual solicitation on the internet. On internet sites and chat rooms, predators use a process called grooming to build a trusting relationship with your child, with an end game of gathering pornographic pictures or even a face-to-face meeting. But now experts are saying the number of ways predators can contact your child are growing every day.
"The pornographers and the predators are always on the cutting edge of these new technologies and that's what makes it problematic," Donna Rice Hughes is president of Enough is Enough, a non-profit that focuses on making the internet safer for children and families.
