You did it! Another WIN to Defend the Dignity of Women and Children!

Enough Is Enough® (EIE) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) is keeping both state and local legal protections for sex trafficking victims in the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)! Your persistence in reaching out to Members of Congress made a difference! EIE and coalition partners also reached out to the White House, and they were very responsive and agreed action was needed!

Here's what this means:

1- Your concerns were heard and Big Tech didn't get away with sneaking in the problematic language from CDA 230 into the USMCA (now replacing NAFTA) that would have essentially conflicted with newly-enacted U.S. law.

2 - USMCA will not immunize bad actors who knowingly facilitate sex trafficking, whether it is in the U.S. or neighboring countries.

This is great news is yet another victory for children and families as it represents another protective measure. As you may recall, FOSTA ("Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act,”) which amended the Communications Decency Act (CDA), fulfilled a promise by then-candidate Trump, who in 2016 signed Enough Is Enough®’s Children’s Internet Safety Presidential Pledge promising to advance public policies and provide law enforcement with the resources and tools needed to investigate and prosecute Internet crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children.

These victories are WINS for trafficking survivors. Yet, as the Pledge points out, we still need to also ensure our Department of Justice is committed to aggressively enforcing all laws protecting victims of sex crimes including federal obscenity laws, child pornography laws, and sexual predation laws. So we're calling on our faithful advocates and supporters once again tostep up to the plate in the name of defending dignity in the digital world.

Just like before, we're asking you to contact your Representative and Senator's office to make it known you want laws protecting children from sexual exploitation enforced! We've made it very easy to do! Just click here to find your elected leaders and show your support to have the tenets of the Presidential Pledge enforced by following through on the commitments made.

Finally, I'd like to humbly ask you for one more thing. Please, won't you help "Fund the Fight" to support the battles EIE is actively engaged in on a daily basis to defend children in the digital world?
