Miss Florida partners with EIE on Internet Safety

    MaryKatherine Fetchel, Miss Florida 2015

Enough Is Enough® is pleased to partner with MaryKatherine Fechtel, Miss Florida 2015, who chose Internet Safety and Protecting Youth from Online Predators as her platform issue. MaryKatherine is competing for the Miss America title on September 13, 2015.

Below is a message from MaryKatherine that can be found on her website at www.asafetynetforyouth.com. Hope you will watch her PSA here.

“Dear Parents: ‘When I first became involved in the anti-trafficking and child exploitation movement three years ago, I discovered that the Internet had emerged as a prominent vehicle for the victimization of children. Sexual predators have easy and anonymous access to youth via online video games, social media, email and chatrooms.  Where kids play, predators prey.   Unrestricted internet access by youth has led to skyrocketing exposure to sexual predators, child pornography, sextortion, and online solicitations and even trafficking.  The key in prevention and the most important protection is an active and involved cyberparent!’”

It’s been a longtime dream of mine to engage the millennial generation to continue to carry the baton forward in this long war to protect kids online. We are so grateful that this lovely, smart and  caring young woman is using her platform as Miss Florida to take a stand against the sexual predation of kids online.

About MaryKatherine (More information at www.asafetynet.org)

Upon beginning her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida in 2012, MaryKatherine's eyes were opened to the horrors of exploitation in her college town community. As an active member of the anti-trafficking movement within north central Florida and an intern at a restorative ministry for women of the sex industry, she quickly learned of the role of the internet in both adult and child exploitation. Always having a passion for building up youth, the issue of online safety became her tool to combat exploitation in younger generations. She has worked with The Child Advocacy Centers of Alachua County, The Federal Bureau of Investigations of Miami, Enough Is Enough® 501(c)(3), and The North Central Florida Human Trafficking Task force. She now continues to reach audiences across the state of Florida as a representative of the Miss America Organization.
